The 2026/27 season is under way
We kicked off the new season on the other side of the world – in Chile. At the Valle Arpa 4* event Monika Nováková finished fifth, and her points from the southern hemisphere also count towards the European ranking.
Starting in the Andes
While there was still no snow in Europe, the 2026/27 Freeride World Tour Qualifier season was already under way in the southern hemisphere. And the Czechs were there: Monika Nováková and Ondřej Růžička travelled to Chile for Valle Arpa, held from 9 to 12 September 2026 as a top-level 4* qualifier.
Results
- Monika Nováková (ski, women) – 5th place and 1,340 ranking points
- Ondřej Růžička (snowboard, men) – 26th place and 284 points
For Monika it's a superb start to the season – fifth place at a 4* event moved her straight into the top 30 of the overall ranking after her very first start.
Points from Chile count in Europe too
Under Freeride World Tour rules, Chile belongs to the Americas region. For the adult categories, however, there is an exception: points from events in the southern hemisphere count towards the rankings of both regions – the Americas and Europe (Europe–Asia–Oceania). So Monika's and Ondřej's Chilean points officially count towards the European qualification too, where the main part of their season lies ahead.
What's next
We're now heading back to the Alps to prepare for the European leg of the series, which starts as winter arrives. We'll keep updating the Results section – and if you'd like to support us through the season, get in touch.
